Worship leaders are always a blessing as many of the people we serve cannot make it to a typical church service, so it's an extra blessing to bring a worship service to them.
There are also opportunities to teach at the dementia or elderly homes through out the valley. We have been assigned many patients that are not expected to live another full year; perhaps only 3 to 8 months.
If you enjoy cooking, we have a pot luck with our services Sunday mornings, evenings and Tuesday evenings. Bring a dish! We have several homeless people join our outreaches, so a home cooked meal is such a blessing to them.
Many elderly would love to have visitors from time to time. You are always welcome to attend any of these services, get to know some of these wonderful attendees, and visit them during the week.
We have a disabled ministry for the deaf and disabled. We could always use another interpreter.
Occasionally the homes we provide for the homeless need maintenance. If you are good at fixing things we could use your help.
We work closely with a pastor named Opinga in Kenya who runs an orphanage that currently has 18 children. There are many ways to serve the children in the orphanage in Kenya. You can help a child by giving a monthly gift of $30.00. Your gift of $1.00 a day helps feed a child, provide clothes, and pay for the child's education.
Most of the children have never been outside of Kenya. Their communication is limited to other children in the orphanage and staff. These children love getting letters from us or engaging in video chats with us. You can establish a relationship with a child, read scripture with them, and encourage them to be the christian God has called them to be.
During the holiday season you can make Christmas gift boxes to send to children in the orphanage. You can fill the box with socks, gospel tracts, a bible, small game, clothes, etc. Sending a box full of love sure puts a smile on a child's face.
We have opportunities to come along side our homeless men and woman to provide physical and spiritual support in anyway needed to help them grow. Mentoring one another is an essential ingredient for the Body of Believers. There is nothing more rewarding than pouring into others. What is MOST rewarding is knowing we’ve helped someone grow CLOSER to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. That is what mentoring is all about in the Kingdom of God. As if that isn’t enough, the blessings are multiplied as the ones we mentor learn to mentor others. Making disciples is the greatest commission.
Trust in the LORD and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you.
We are called to serve. Jesus tells us in Matthew 25:31-46 that anytime we serve to the scattered, weary, and or to the least of these, that we are actually serving unto Christ himself. At Hands and Feet we have several opportunities t serve. We each have different talents and callings so we want to encourage you to serve wherever you feel called. The best part of serving, is that we are also growing closer to God in the process! It’s wonderfully unavoidable! This is what Christianity is all about, serving Christ by serving others.
